Shower Tile Installation & Waterproofing
A shower is a small room that gets soaked every day. Tile and grout are not waterproof on their own — the system behind them is what keeps water out of your walls and out of the ceiling below. Most shower failures we are called to fix are not tile problems at all; they are waterproofing and slope problems that were invisible on day one.
We build showers the way they should be built: solid, correctly sloped substrate, a continuous waterproofing layer at the pan, curb, corners and seams, properly treated penetrations, then tile set with the right mortar and finished with grout and flexible caulk where movement happens.

How it works
Our process
Assess & plan
We review the existing shower, the framing and the plumbing, then plan the layout — niche height, bench, drain position and where the tile pattern starts.
Demolition & framing
Old tile and pan come out, framing and blocking go in for niches, benches and fixtures.
Waterproofing
Pan, curb, corners and seams are waterproofed as a continuous system, with slope checked to the drain.
Tile & finish
Tile set and aligned, grout applied, movement joints caulked, fixtures trimmed out and the shower cleaned and ready to use once fully cured.

What affects the cost
What changes the price of a shower build:
- Size, height and whether the ceiling is tiled
- Curbed vs. curbless — curbless requires recessing the floor framing
- Drain type: a linear drain changes the pan build
- Tile format and pattern, and natural stone vs. porcelain
- Niches, benches and other built-ins
- Plumbing changes such as valve relocation or converting from a tub
We do not quote from a photo or a phone call alone. We visit, measure, look at what is underneath where we can, and give you a written estimate that explains the scope — so you can compare it honestly against any other quote you receive.
Shower Tile Installation & Waterproofing FAQ
How do you waterproof a shower?
We use a continuous waterproofing system over a properly sloped, solid substrate — pan, curb, corners, seams and fixture penetrations included. The specific products depend on the build, and we explain what we are using and why before we start.
Can you build a curbless shower?
Often, yes. It depends on the floor framing, since the floor has to be recessed for the shower pan. We check that during the walkthrough and tell you honestly whether it works in your house.
My shower leaks into the ceiling below — can it be repaired?
Sometimes a leak is a failed caulk joint or a cracked grout line, which is a straightforward repair. When water has gotten past the waterproofing, the shower usually has to be rebuilt to fix it properly. We tell you which situation you are in, rather than selling a patch that will fail again.
How long before we can use the new shower?
Tile and grout need time to cure. We will tell you the exact wait for the materials used on your project, usually a few days after the last grout goes in.
Do you install the glass door?
We build and tile the opening so the glass fits correctly, and we coordinate with your glass supplier on measurements and timing.
