Floor Tile Installation
Tile floors fail for one reason more than any other: movement. If the subfloor flexes, or if the surface is not flat, the result is hollow-sounding tiles, cracked grout lines and eventually cracked tile. That is why we spend real time on what is under your floor before we set anything on top of it.
We check the subfloor for deflection and flatness, repair or reinforce where needed, use an uncoupling or crack-isolation membrane where it makes sense, and plan the layout so the pattern runs square to the room and the cuts land where they are least visible.

How it works
Our process
Check the floor
We assess the existing floor and subfloor — flatness, deflection, height at doors and transitions — and tell you what prep the job needs.
Remove & prepare
Old flooring comes out, the subfloor is repaired or leveled, and membranes go down where they are warranted.
Lay out & set
We dry-lay the layout to place the pattern and cuts, then set the tile with the right mortar and spacing.
Grout, transition & finish
Grout and caulk go in, thresholds and baseboards are finished, and the floor is cleaned and ready.

What affects the cost
What drives the price of a tile floor:
- Square footage and the shape of the room
- Removing existing flooring and disposing of it
- Subfloor condition — leveling, repair or reinforcement
- Tile size and material: large-format and natural stone need flatter substrates and more care
- Pattern and cuts: diagonal, herringbone and borders add labor
- Transitions, thresholds, and reinstalling or replacing trim
We do not quote from a photo or a phone call alone. We visit, measure, look at what is underneath where we can, and give you a written estimate that explains the scope — so you can compare it honestly against any other quote you receive.
Floor Tile Installation FAQ
Can you tile over my existing floor?
Sometimes. It depends on what is there, how solid it is and how much height you can add at doorways and transitions. We check before quoting rather than assuming.
Is wood-look porcelain a good choice?
It is a great fit for kitchens, mudrooms and bathrooms where you want the look of wood with the durability of porcelain. Long plank formats need a very flat subfloor and a specific offset pattern to lay correctly, which we plan for.
Can you install heated floors?
We prepare floors for radiant heating systems and coordinate the installation with the appropriate licensed trades.
How long before we can walk on it?
Usually the next day after grouting, though full cure times depend on the materials. We give you the exact timing for your project.
Will my floor crack?
Not if the substrate is right. Cracks almost always come from movement or poor preparation underneath, which is exactly where we focus.
