Kitchen backsplashes

Kitchen backsplash installation

The fastest way to make a kitchen feel finished — subway, zellige, mosaic or full-height slab-look tile, cut clean around every outlet and corner.

What we do

Kitchen Backsplash Installation

A backsplash is a small area with a lot of obstacles: outlets, switches, window returns, range hoods, open shelves and upper cabinets that are rarely perfectly level. The difference between a good backsplash and a great one is in how those obstacles are handled — whether cuts land symmetrically, whether outlet covers sit flush, whether the pattern stays straight across the whole wall.

It is also one of the few projects that transforms a kitchen in a couple of days without a full remodel. We protect the counters and cabinets, keep the dust contained, and leave the kitchen usable again quickly.

How it works

Our process

Measure & plan the layout

We measure the walls, find the focal points — usually the range wall and the window — and plan where the pattern starts so cuts fall evenly.

Protect & prep

Counters, appliances and cabinets are covered. Walls are cleaned, patched and made flat where needed.

Set the tile

Tile is set with attention to level, spacing and the cuts around outlets, corners and edges.

Grout & finish

Grout, caulk at the counter and corners, outlet covers reinstalled, and a full clean-up of the kitchen.

Pricing

What affects the cost

Backsplash quotes come down to:

  • Square footage and how many walls are covered
  • Standard height vs. full height to the ceiling
  • Tile type — handmade and small mosaics take longer to set than standard subway
  • Pattern: herringbone, chevron and mitered edges add labor
  • Number of outlets, switches, windows and corners
  • Whether an old backsplash has to come off first, and what the wall looks like underneath

We do not quote from a photo or a phone call alone. We visit, measure, look at what is underneath where we can, and give you a written estimate that explains the scope — so you can compare it honestly against any other quote you receive.

Kitchen Backsplash Installation FAQ

How long does a backsplash take?

Most backsplashes are a two-day project: setting one day, grouting the next. Larger or more intricate installations take longer.

Can you tile over the existing backsplash?

Sometimes, but it is usually better to remove it. We look at what is there and tell you which approach gives a better result in your kitchen.

How much tile should I order?

Order more than the exact square footage to allow for cuts and future repairs — we tell you the right quantity for your layout before you buy.

Do you work with zellige and handmade tile?

Yes. Handmade tile has natural variation in size, thickness and color, which is part of its charm and requires a different approach to spacing and grout. We plan for that.

Can you do it while the kitchen stays in use?

Mostly, yes. The counters and range area are out of commission during the work, but we clean up at the end of each day.
